IOT - Is it art, or is it just trash?

IOT - Is it art, or is it just trash?

Andre Lange

The presentation will deal with the question of how intelligent manufacturing can be realized by means of IoT, digital twins and platforms related to the OT. The benefits of ubiquitous connectivity, fog computing and modular design will be explained. Examples from energy and maintenance management will show how data from multiple sources can be easily collected, analyzed, and visualized. The presentation is aimed at manufacturing companies that want to increase their value through data-driven processes.

AR/VR in the traditional world of machining - where are we today?

AR/VR in the traditional world of machining - where are we today?

Benjamin Buzga

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are technologies that have grown in importance over the past few years. They allow us to immerse ourselves in a virtual world or to augment real-world images with digital information.
In the machine tool world, VR / AR technology can be used to support the planning, operation and maintenance of machines. In addition, VR technology can be used to represent complex components and workpieces in three dimensions in order to plan and optimize their production. AR technology, on the other hand, can be used to project digital information such as measurement data or work instructions directly onto the real machine environment during the operation of a machine tool. This presentation will use a real-world project to show where we really are in the machine tool world and what trends we should be focusing on.

How to achieve "first time right" in free-form bending?

How to achieve "first time right" in free-form bending?

Philipp Lechner

Freeform bending with a moving die offers the opportunity to produce flexible parts from one-offs to large series without the need for retooling. However, this requires a fully digital and automated process chain from the desired geometry to the finished part. This presentation will cover the necessary digital tools, modeling and process control to produce “first time right” in quantities of one.
