Machine tools between research and demographic change

Presented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Paul Helmut Nebeling

Chair of Machine Tools, Control Engineering, Production Systems, Additive Manufacturing
Reutlingen University

Today’s machine tools are highly complex mechatronic systems. In addition to the mechanical components, these include powerful controls and drives, fluidic systems and workpiece-specific technology, devices and tools. In particular, the functionality in the area of process and machine condition monitoring has been intensively developed in recent years by increasing the performance of control systems and integrating sensors. Today, this enables ever more intelligent management of processes and machines. At the same time, requirements for simple and intuitive machine operation have developed.
